My Freshman Year
I thought it was interesting how Nathan found that minorities ate alone more than the white non-Hispanic population. I feel that at Bloomsburg University the group she referred to as the minority are less likely to be seen eating alone and usually eat in larger groups. However, this could be from the fact that Bloomsburg University could be more diverse than AnyU, thus causing the results to differ. Another interesting statistic that she discovered is that men tend to eat alone more than women. I would agree with this statistic because girls care so much about there social standing and would not want to be seen alone so they would be more likely to take the food to go rather than eat in public.

Mind and Work
I found that Mind and Work was much easier to read than the ethnography story we read last week because I could relate to the story because I have worked numerous jobs and I am the first from my family to attend college. I thought it was interesting that he was in the same position as me and how he talked about the idea of work and schooling and how intelligence was formed. He not only offered facts to back up his reasoning, but personal experience as well, which I could relate to. I also agreed with how people judge others based on what they do for a living whether it be by choice of their career or whatever they can do to support their family. I know many people who hate their job but have to do it just to keep food on the table because they did not pursue and further education after high school which limited their options job choices.
